Project Manager: Jim Woodfield
Site Foreman: Lee Sellwood
Builder: RG Carter
Consultant: Synergy
Value: £666K
Start Date: 8/6/09
Practical Completion: 10/10/09
Relaunch Date: 16/10/09
The building was previously trading as a “Do It All” DIY store but was empty for some time prior to its acquisition by Waitrose. The external areas of the branch and internal walls were constructed by a development company, and RG Carter took possession of this as an empty “shell”.

The Guardian remit was for the full electrical package.
The working period was 5 days each week, with occasional weekend working.
Guardian installed a new Mains Panel on the mezzanine, which incorporated all of the distribution boards and switches to run the store. We also installed a new H&V Panel on the mezzanine floor.
Systems installed
- Fire Alarm
- CCTV
- Intruder Alarm
- Building Management System (BMS)
- H&V
- Refrigeration
- Public Address
- Earthing for EDF
- New Comms Room and Epos Data System, including 2 No. UPS's & Cat 6 Telephones
- Front of House Lighting, installed to Waitrose MK V specification
- Service Departments
- Office lighting, and staff facility areas controlled by PIR sensors to reduce energy costs.
- 500 kva generator which will support the entire store in the event of a power failure.

The job was challenging due to the Waitrose executive walk-round being bought forward to two weeks prior to practical completion. This meant that the only outstanding works after this date were to be commissioning and snagging activities.

Guardian ECL handed the project over on Thursday 10th September, and have since received positive feedback from the client.
