Guardian Annual Golf Day, 2009

On Friday 19th June 2009, Guardian ECL held its Annual Golf Day at The Forest of Arden Golf and Country Club, Warwickshire.

As in previous years, Guardian ECL was aiming to raise as much money as possible in favour of its nominated charity, Little Havens Childrens Hospice.

Little Havens provides support and care for terminally ill children, as well as respite care to support their families. All funds raised go to support the wonderful work it does for not only the children, but also their loved ones.

The Guardian 2009 Golf Day opened with the opportunity for some early morning practice on the driving range, and this was taken advantage of by some of the attendees. Unfortunately, this did not prevent the inauspicious start made by one of the Guardian Directors (who shall remain nameless!), who took four swings at the ball (although some say five!) on the first tee! However, this was followed by a pleasant day of golf in the warm June sunshine on the beautiful 18-hole course.

The evening meal included raffles and prize-giving, as well as entertainment, including a comedian. The end to a successful day was completed with the amount of money raised. The final figure raised in aid of Little Havens came to £5,650.

Guardian would like to thank all attendees for their efforts on the golf course, as well as their support for our fund-raising, the proceeds of which will benefit a very worthy cause.
